    • The Department in cooperation with the Center for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies hosted a lecture by Cyrus Schayegh on “From Rasht with Love: A U.S.-Iranian Cold War Story”, which was given on March 17, 2015.
    • The annual Kamal Salibi’s memorial lecture by Leila Fawaz on “Living and remembering history: Writing on the great wall”, which was held on May 5, 2015.

    • Lecture by Professor Hassan Kayali on “Dissolution of Empire in the Middle East, 1918-1923: Historical Contingencies vs. Historiographical Certainties”, which was given on September 18, 2014.
    • Lecture by Dr. Alexander Ahrens on “New Perspectives on the Contacts between Egypt and the Northern Levant during the Bronze Age (ca. 2300–1300 BCE)”, which was held on November 13, 2014.

    International Workshop 2010
  • The International workshop on the Middle Bronze Age Pottery of Lebanon in its Near Eastern Context took place in College Hall B1 on August 9 and 10, 2010. It was organized by the Department of History and Archaeology at the American University of Beirut and by the Department of Near Eastern Archaeology at the University of Freiburg.
