MRVP stems from a need arising from both the students and the faculty members. Undergraduate students need proper exposure to research in the medical field as well as proper mentorship. On the other hand, faculty members need access to a constant supply of assistance to help them in their research projects. Thus, the MRVP is a program that mutually benefits both parties.
For students, the MRVP exposes them to research, and provides them with an environment in which they will learn from a hands-on experience, build connections with physicians and researchers, acquire teamwork skills, and strengthen their Curriculum Vitaes.
For faculty members, the MRVP will provide a constant access to a wide pool of interested research volunteers to help in their research projects, as we as the opportunity to impact the new generation of scientific minds.
Finally, the MRVP is a program that contributes to the development of the research culture at the American University of Beirut by instilling a passion for research in young minds as well as providing support for researchers, helping them be more productive in their research. This will translate into an increase in the productivity and impact of research done at the institution and in Lebanon.
