Short Bio


Victor Araman is an Associate Professor of Decision Science at the Olayan School of Business (OSB), at AUB. He was formerly a full-time faculty at the Stern school of Business, NYU. He is still affiliated with NYU as an associate adjunct professor. He was also a visiting professor at INSEAD in 2006-2007 and again in 2016-2017. He received his Engineering degree from Ecole Centrale in France, and his MS and PhD degrees in Operations Research from Stanford University.

His research interest is broadly on stochastic modeling and control, focusing on operations and pricing analytics issues. Including, personalized and dynamic pricing, demand learning and consumer behavior. He has been teaching courses on operations management, supply chain management, decision models and pricing and revenue optimization in the full-time MBA, Executive MBA and undergraduate programs. He received the AUB Teaching Excellence Award in 2014.

Professor Araman has published in leading academic journals including Operations Research and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management. His work on Media Revenue Management was awarded the 2012 M&SOM Best Paper Award. He also has been heavily involved in the life of the school and the university at large. Among the many service activities, he led the MBA program at OSB between 2013 and 2015 and was elected to serve on the senate faculty affairs and school advisory committees between 2014 and 2016.

Professor Araman has an intensive professional experience. He previously worked with Altera Corporation in San Jose, California and McKinsey & Company in Paris. He has consulted and advised many companies in the Silicon Valley area and in the region. Recently, he has been involved with and advising few startups: He designed and developed an innovative pricing algorithm for a UK-based, e-commerce platform and remains their senior data scientist. He is working with a social enterprise in Africa to streamline and optimize their business model.


Teaching Interests


Victor has built a broad teaching portfolio including functional courses such as operations and (sustainable) supply chain management and cross functional ones such as decision models and pricing and revenue optimization. He teaches such courses to BBAs, MBAs and EMBAs. He is also involved in Exec Education. He also taught Ph.D. courses and gave lectures in advanced applied probability, stochastic simulation and dynamic programming
