Dr. Shadi Saleh is an Associate Professor and Chairman of Health Management and Policy department at the American University of Beirut (AUB). Prior to joining AUB, Dr. Saleh served as a professor of Health Management and Policy at the State University of New York at Albany where he also was the Director of Certificate Programs and the MD/MPH program.
Dr. Saleh expertise areas are in health care financing, financial performance of hospitals, feasibility studies of health care projects, strategic planning and budgeting and evidence-based decision making. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers and project reports. Dr. Saleh’s work in the health care field has been mainly focused in the hospital sector. He conducted numerous studies evaluating overall financial performance and the financial viability of targeted hospital services. In addition, he has served in different roles in medical research centers and health care consulting firms (General Director, steering committees and advisory boards) in the MENA Region and the US. Dr. Saleh holds a PhD in Health Management and Policy (minor in health care finance) from the University of Iowa and an MPH and a BS (health services administration) from AUB. When not involved with his academic, administrative, and research obligations, Saleh spends leisure time with his family. He tries to include exercise in his daily schedule, and he tremendously enjoys reading history, as well as biography and autobiography.
